WHAT!!!!!!!
Throw away brass! Unthinkable. Wow, must not have any reloaders in your club. Bet you guys could gather it up and sort it then sell it to local gun shops or on ebay. I don't do the cowboy thing but I bet there are a lot of cowboy shooters out there that reload. Even if the rounds are loaded with black powder they could be cleaned and reused several times. Your club may be missing out on a valauble resource there!

Yes recycling places or scrap yards will buy it as brass and pay brass prices. Most if not all of the primer is made of brass also or copper. Now you can't sell the 7.62x39 foreign junk that is made of stell as brass nor any stell cased .223s that might find their way in but other than those two rounds practically anything fired there to include rimfires can be sold as brass.

I would check around and see if there is a company close by that buys brass shell casings to reload. There are several companies that remanfacture ammo and they may give you more than scrap prices your brass. One place here in Alabama that buys brass is Alabama Ammo over in Moulton, Al. One of our shooters scavages the local range for brass and trades it to them for reloading supplies.  Their web address is:
