ultra comp?
« on: May 27, 2007, 04:37:47 PM »
hey guys, be so kind as to clarify which rifle the ultra comp is? i have searched the H&R site and see no such rifle. also is it my understanding that the O ring mod on the forend to free float the barrel is simply putting the proper sized oring in place to act as a spacer. how tight do you make the screw as far as foot lbs, or just go snug, and this wont effect the opening action of the rifle? thanks in advance fellas..

Welcome to GBO!! As Jay said, they were Ultras that had a removable brake on them, barrels are 21½" long, plus the brake. Once in a while you'll see a barrel on ebay or here in the classifieds. I've got 3 of em right now, two 270s and a 30-06, I think they were also made in .308.

Read the FAQs and Help sticky info, all your answers are in there.

Either talk about the most hard to find barrel or someone might just be out of their mind :o ;D
I didn't see any cataloged in an older buyers guide when they were still made, but then again there have been many models souped up together that were not offered to the over all general public. Plus I find many buyers guides to have misprints too so.. :-\
