the ONLY game animals that have tested pos for CWD here in MT were high fence operation elk,our Gov. quickly relized these operations were a threat to our wild herds and took steps that lead to the removal of high fence hunting in MT.The only people that defend these operations are the guys running it and those who have never been on a fair chase hunt, they a bad for the hunters reputation and can destroy wild herds of game through diseases like CWD.Im proud to live in a state where there is still enough common sense people around willing to step up and get rid of this BS,you canned hunters stay in Texas.
If it aint fair chase its FOUL,and illegal in my state!

The surprising thing to me here is the lack of general outdoor knowledge shown. In the US a section is one square mile, 36 sections in a Township, etc.  One section is 640 acres, so 2400 acres is 3.75 square miles.  That is a rather large tract of fenced land, particularly if wooded.....

What I read said the plot of land he was hunting was 2400 acres, which if square is two miles long by two miles wide.  I don't know about you guys, but it takes me about 25 minutes to hike two miles.  If there were the kid, more than one guide (they didnt specify how many, but said guides), the dad, it would not take too long at all to locate and kill this pig.

Wow, I'm glad you educated me about what had already been said.  The two miles long and two miles wide means about 4 square miles....  Woo, it's a good thing you caught me before someone believe it was 4 and not 3.75  ::)

By the way, I read in the paper yesterday a new story, which revealed that the hunting area on the plantation was 2400 acres.  The fenced in area was only 150 acres!!  Becoming more of a joke all the time.

corbanzo , read what i wrote , i hunt in Canada , and that was what they call a section i never said it was 2 sq mi.instead of 4, used it to demonstrate how small an area it really is when hunting ! i do not lack outdoor knowledge as you say but i feel you need to brush up on your reading skills as you seem to miss the content of what you read !
Besides if they couldn't track a 1051 lb wounded barnyard pig thru a fenced in area they didn't have a guide or eyes !
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Who cares how big the farm was if the pen was 150 acres?

Well the size of the farm was next , the size of the pig , skill of the shooter , size of the gun , where the pig came from , the place , ethics , morals , name of pig etc. have been hashed out , there is little left , we have to debate something !
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

The story of Fred, the big hog who was just four days out of the pen. is starting to come out.  The jerk(s) who have let this get out as a "hunting story" have yet again managed to damage legitimate hunting.  Thanks a lot boys!

See the link that is beginning to unravel this Sunday morning.

Shootall - I am in full agreement with you, go back and read my previous post about the area, and the post by lone star, which was who I quoted and was refering to, not you.  I know how to read.
