Shot the .480 Ruger...

I like this barrel,I topped it with a Tasco Pro-point groups ran about 2" at 50 yards with several three shot groups at 1/2" I used factory 325gr XTP's.I may put a 4 power scope on it as I'm sure the groups would come alot easier :grin: I also shot my 26" 300 Mag as a pistol  HE.....HE...HE..just to see just how bad it would kick.Well it did kick but ,nothing like I thought it would.I had no sites so I can't report if it was accurate.In all I had fun and I will be hunting with the .480 this year.What do you guys think about a 16 1/4" or 17" 300 Mag as a pistol....Hmmmmmmmm.

I think a 16&1/4" barrel would be fine....with a sound proof helmet, a mouth guard, and a neck brace.  But then you young bucks can take it....

300 mag in a pistol :shock:  i just don't know pj, sounds like it may be all up to you on that one :wink:  the 480 ruger should be great. how did it compare to the 300 mag in recoil or noise? hey! :idea: i just happen to have a 4x tasco listed in the classifieds. hmmmmm? :lol:

The recoil from the 300 Mag's 26" barrel really was not bad at all.I had a 16 1/4" 45-70 Contender that was worse.It was more than the 480 Ruger   If I do cut it down I'll get the longest eye relief scope I can get

give any more info on the .480?   What exactly are you shooting it out of?  I assume an Encore?  How was the recoil?  What barrell lenght and style?  If you don't mind me asking.  Thanks
