The new Hi-standard 1911, has anyone purchased one?

My local Gander mountain has a Hi-standard brand model 1911 mil spec advertised, thinking of taking the 1911 plunge.  Are these any good?  I almost bought the Springfield mil spec a few years ago, but saw that it was made in Brazil.

Taurus guns are made in Brazil, and they have a reputation for using soft steel.  I once owed 4 Taurus guns, and yes, the steel was softer then anything I ever encountered with a Ruger or Smith and Wesson.  Rugers and Smiths use good steel, made to last.

If anyone has one or knows of a buddy with one, are they happy with it?  Is it made in the USA or soft steel land in Brazil?!

I had a fellow try to pawn one a few weeks ago, and if memory serves me correct I believe it was also made in Brazil, it appeared as if it was just another of the clones or copy's of the same basic 1911, he ended up bringing in a cold stainless government in to cover the amt. needed so we took it in instead, however he did state that the Hi Standard out shot the Colt.   JIM

I have a high standard 1911 45 .They appear to be made in the plillpines I think the same place as rock island armory pistols are made.I haven't shot mine a whole bunch yet but when I did the groups were acceptable with wal mart ammo it cycled just fine and I'm satisfied with it.
