Ruger dropping .357 & .41 Bisley models?
« on: June 04, 2007, 06:09:37 AM »
Was checking around and found that Ruger did not seem to be listing anything but .22, .44 Mag and .45 Colt in the Bisley model any more. Found a couple of gun books that only listed those as well. So are they discontinuing the .357 Mag and .41 Mag models? I found that Gander Mt. had a couple of the .357s in stock - they did not know about any discontinuing of models, but I put one on layaway though. Anybody heard anything about it?

The last runs of these were actually done quite a while ago - like 2006.  The .41 Bisley was discontinued years back.  A bunch that had sat in the warehouse were released a year ago or so but they've not been in production for quite some time.  I missed grabbing one of the .41's when I had the chance unfortunetly.  I did recently bring home one in .357.  I'll gte a .45 Bisley allso.  Got at least one of each of the Acusport Bisleys but still like the longer bbls sometimes.

They are not listing .45 with less than a 7 inch barrel either. It just so happens that I have got a factory 4 5/8 barrel bisley .45 listed in the classifieds.

Better check before you say it's a factory thing. Ruger hasn't offered any Bisley's in a 4 5/8" bbl.  All cataloged models had a 7 1/2" or in the case of the .22lr and I believe possibly the .32 H&R mag model whcih had 6 1/2" bbls.   The Acusport Bisleys were the 5 1/2" bbl stainless ones made exclusively for Acusport.
While you may have a Bisley with a factory 4 5/8" bbl, it's most likely a parts swap project.  If you really believe it to be a factory configuration, a call to Ruger's records dept will verify it.
Or...are you possibly referring to a Bisley Vaquero?
