Rate of twist in T/C System One .32 and 50 Cal?
« on: June 04, 2007, 07:02:29 AM »
Does anyone know the rate of twist for the T/C system one.  Just bought one with the 32 and 50  cal barrels and figured I would ask here before calling T/C.

According to my catalog the 50, 54 and 58 calibers are 1:38 twist.  The 32 caliber is 1:48 twist.  Hope that helps.  I have a System One in 50 cal and have a 32 cal barrel for it but haven't shot either yet.  My  Thunderhawk with the 1:38 twist is really a shooter though.

snicker has it right, 1:38 twist for the .50 cal. I'm not sure about the .54 or .58 or .32, but he most likely is right on there too!  Try a TC 245 gr.maxiball with 90-100 gr. of T7 FFg powder and wad in the .50 cal. that load should be very accurate, it was for me.

manofthe45, I don't shoot the Thunderhawk much anymore - takes a little longer to clean than the others.  But when I was shooting it I was using 90 gr of Pyrodex and a 240 gr Powerbelt hollowpoint.  Also shot well with the 320 gr maxiball over 90 gr of Pryodex.  The System One has a 26" barrel whereas the Thunderhawk has a 24" barrel so you will probably have to play around with it to see what exactly it likes.  If you want to go with sabots it should handle them well also.  I have a Firehawk that has the same twist that likes the T/C Breakaway Sabots and a 240 gr lead bullet over 85 grains of APP powder.  But that should give you a starting point on it.  Hope that all helps ya.  Good shooting!

That reminds me, I had a .54 FireHawk and it liked 260 gr. Knight lead bullet/Knight red sabot and 90 gr. of pyrodex. Triple Seven hadn't come out yet, and sold the FireHawk to fund the Encore.

I'm told the 1:38 twist will shoot roundballs well too, (I didn't) might give them a try also. Good luck!!
