How many reloadings ???
« on: June 04, 2007, 11:19:59 AM »
How many reloadings does it take to obliterate the headstamp on a 45ACP case? I've got some that have been reloaded so many times that the headstamp is completely gone, many more are simply unreadable.

Questor, I've got a bunch of those cases too. I honestly can't tell you how many times I've reloaded some of my brass. :)

guess it would depend on how deep the headstamp was to begin with. Some of them are so shallow that these old tired eyes cant read them when there new! Heres how i deal with 45acp. Brass is about dirt cheap in bulk if you pick up once fired range brass. I take about 2000 rounds of it and load it and keep loading it till it splits. That is my practice ammo. Then ill load another 1000 in once fired and use it for competion or self defense and just shoot it and leave it lay. Its cheap enough that i dont need to bend over and pick it up in competition and figure if it was ever used in a defensive situation the police would probably pick it up for me anyway :o I do the same for 9mm and 40. Ive probably got 3 or 4 5 gallon pails of each and it will probably be near the time the reaper comes for me that i will need more. Problem is that its just like lead. I just cant pass up a deal on it!
