Remington Accelerators
« on: June 07, 2007, 10:45:21 AM »
Does Remington still make the Accelerator ammunition (.223 in a sabot) for 30-30, 30-06 or 308 like they used to?  Would be a nice round to load in a 7.62x39.

They still list some on their web page. It's listed as seasonal run at Midway for 30-30, and out of stock, no B/O for the 30-06.

From what I have heard they are fast but not very accurate - which calls into question why I would want to use them.  I'm curious what you are using them for?

I've shot some in my 30-30s.  It will scare the heck out of varmints but that is all.   They don't group, it's more like pattern.  6-7" was about the best I could do. I thought I was shooting my SKS.  Some hit the target, some flew completely off the plywood that the target was stapled to.  It would be great if they could make them accurate.  I only ordered two boxes of the stuff so it was not really that big of a loss.

I used to shoot them and got 2" groups at 100 yards when shooting them out of my BLR.. not bad in my book.
I see Remington has started making them in 30-30 and 30-06 but does not list them in 308 not sure why!
If you are shooting at reasonable distances they are much cheeper than buying another rifle.

At $25 a box, 4 boxes and you've paid for another barrel for your Handirifle in Hornet, 204, 223 or 22-250!! :D
