Red dot scope

I have a Tasco Pro-Point red dot scope lying in a drawer. It was preveiously on a1911 .45and never had a problem. Question is; do you think it can hold up to the recoil of a R.S.B.H. ? No sense putting it on and  it break.

I have had a Tasco Pro Point III on my redhwak 44 mag for at least 10 years now and have not had any problems .

I had one on my Redhawk 44 Mag for years, my buddy now owns that guns with the same red-dot still on it.

That's great to hear! thanks for the replies. I hadn't heard from anyone and was starting to wonder. I'm going to mount to my new 7-30 Waters tonight and go to the range tomorrow! Not looking forward to properly breakin in a new barrel though.But at least the Hoppes smells good. I think they should come out with an aftershave!!!! ;D

I've had the same one now for years, it rests on a 22lr contender now, but it held up to a 6 tcu, 7 tcu, 7-30,30-30, 44 mag .445 super mag, and 45-70 all in 14" and a 44 mag sbh in 10.5 bull.

I have had a old Tasco ProPoint I (with side battery pack) on my 629 Classic 44mag. for 17 years with no problems. Its the
only way to go with old eye's.

Geez, Chenango, Tasco should use you in a commercial. That is a pretty good record for any optics.

Red Dots are amazing though. I bought a super cheap no name red dot scope and put it on a Contender 10" 44 mag. I hunted with it several years and shot a bunch of hot handloads with it. Then I put it on a Remington shotgun with a slug barrel and probably went through 100 slugs while I was figuring out which slug shot best. That didn't hurt it either. That old Red dot is still working just fine and stays on zero.  ;D ;D

I had one on my DW 357max, but it turned itself off by loosening the battery cover a few times. cured by making sure the cover was very hand tight.  Was shooting heavy hand loads with a 6" barrel.

my blackhawk had a barska red dot on it when i got the revolver,darn thing shot good for about two months,then i turned it on the next time out,and the dot was now a big red square.barska said send it back along with a twenty dollar
bill to cover postage for a replacement. i said no deal.

last winter i got a millett and i'm on my third one from millet. it's good when it is working. currently i have a bushnell trophy red and green dot on my 41 mag ,so far so good. i'm probabky going to go back to regular pistol scopes
in either a 2x6x32 ora 2x32.  i may even try a tasco pro point, although i've heard from different sources the ultra dot is a good unit.

No personal experience with them, but I know some guys use the Docter Sight and seem very happy (even on the big recoiling FA's).

I bought a new UltraDot brand 30mm red dot scope with a 3 moa dot, mounted it on my 14" Contender 7x30 and love it.  Have been deer hunting with it exclusively for about 4 maybe 5 seasons now and the scope always performs flawlessly.  It is a great sight for deer hunting.  The tiny red dot can be quickly picked up in any light condition.  I am still on the original set of batteries and have taken 5 or 6 nice bucks out to 120 yards with it.

While the red dot may not be as precise at long range as a cross hair, this is not bad at all.
