Rickk ., Stats..., Stats you say....., 3 1/2 at the breach 2 1/2 at the muzzle. 1" bore and 21" barrel length from end to end.  ;D

EL Cazador 66., Bronze., I dont get many of them., I cherish the golden gun and relish the thought of havin one at the bow. ;D

lance ., i wasn't plann'in on hav'in anymore mate ., tho you could come and man the cannons and or take up scuba diving with us in the islands.  ;D

dominick ., Its painted black now and I have had 2  visitors tonight ask me who casted it for me. Your welds and finish-work are outstanding. Its really perfect once the handle is finished it will need another photo.  ;D

Swivel Gun update.
I found it easy to use 2 clamps that are normally found holding the U-Joint to the differential on  most Chevrolets..., the bottom one with a nut welded to it.  This allows me to unscrew the "Steering rod" and ball from the cannon very quickly.

This will be fun on the boat or mounted to an oak barrel in the bar....., however I am also  working on a quick assembly tripod that can be used for the cannon as well as melting lead cannon balls............., or cooking (Differant iron pot).
I will upload the completed cannon with tripod when finished., hopefully it may share an idea or two with some of you cannon camper types ..., Arrrrrrrgh!

Swivel gun  finished

Everything is there now  except for the cast iron pot hanging from the chain to cast bullets and cannon balls. This should be a bit of a fun package to take onto our next outing.  B)

The Tompion was invented I believe to  keep ones powder dry .,and of course it was with-out question named  by a french men ...., ?

Opatriot the majority of my Tompions are to the end of my bore., this serves the purpose of Ramrod., Tompion., and foil mold all in one.,I just use a wooden  dowel then attach a decorative piece of wood or a brass knob or whatever seems to be right for me at the time. and then of course paint it red on the visable end !  ;D

I assume you aren't going to fire anything except salutes from that arrangement as recoil from a shotted load would tip it over in an instant.

with some weight hanging from below it might not be too bad with a projectile.

I've fired by Brooks 1 incher with lead ball and not that mild of a load and the weight of the barrel tends to absorb a substantial amount of recoil.

Besides, you will be hanging onto the "tiller", which will help a bit.

rusty barrels,

You got me thinking.... It's kind of a "Rat Patrol" thing... ;D ;D ;D So, I thought I'd give it a try. I guess I'll need a passenger in the back seat.

Whoooo Yea  thats awesome intoodeep !!!  ;D
We were laughing pretty hard at that.,we love your picture !!
Thanks everyone for comments .,this has  been  alot of fun so far.
Yup George I am going to put that brass ball in the palm of my left hand facing AWAY from my body about sternum height using my fore-arm as a sort of spring for some re-coil. About 8" to 12" from the chest with a firm forearm and in a braced position and send a 1" lead ball to its target with  150 grains fg ., touched off with a slow  match. Recoil will be there.,but the tripod is sturdy and stable.,and the shooter will have to be ready for it. Its only a 1/4" more bore than the Blunderbuss . I will be careful and work up.
This is actually the gun Elmer  Fudd went after Bugs Bunny with...., we  fire it all the time...., its amazing what .70 cents in dimes will do to a 3.00 dollar  watermelon.  ;D

I will try to get fire and smoke for this thread soon then a few photos.,  perhaps video captures.

The blunderbuss is cool Tropico, and Middlesex trading village is about a two hour drive from me. Maybe I'll pay them a visit as soon as I recover from the current projects. I have quite a few percussion guns, but I don't have a flintlock.... a void needing filling I guess.

I noticed they have brass 18 inchers and steel 15 inchers. Bummer that they don't have a brass 15 incher as that would be cool.

Now I have to make a decision. Maybe one of each? Na, wife would kill me, or worse  :o

Tropico, i think it's great what you are building. i get tired of snow in these virginia mountains, and one winter i would like to take some time off and visit your resort. you've got a great start, it's a great ideal, and i look at it like why visit any same old beach resort, when you can visit a pirate resort and kinda know the guy that owns it. and i will be watching the Tropico web site!!!
