Wow,where is everybody at on the Remington forum? Did everybody give up because Remington sold out? Not me. I just bought one of those ugly black SPS rifles in 22-250 Remington. Yep,bought it after buying a Savage Classic in 22-250 and have since been chasing around for a good load that I would be happy with out of the Savage but it was to much work.I through in the towel on that one and went out and got the SPS,took the 4x12 Nikon off the Savage and mounted that on the Remington,bore sighted it and walked out back and printed a 3 shot group at .420 @ 100 yards, out of the box, with old handloads from my other 22-250 rifle.My worst group was just under an inch and a half and the sun was going down on me fast there. The SPS fits me better and actually the plastic stock seems to be a pretty good stock in my own opinion. I had a Bell and Carlson on a 270 Win. so plastic stocks aren't new to me,got one on the muzzel loader too.All in all,I much prefer a good looking wood stock but the black plastic stock and the all black matt finish rifle is really a more practical way to go after my predators of Fox and Yotes. The ground hogs are pretty wise to my shiny riles too and it is no fun waiting for them to show again after being flashed by bright shiny steel in my hay field.But now,look out buddy,I have the edge. My buddy bought a Savage too and it is the plain Jane with the black plastic stock too and it shoots nice tight groups also. I must have a real lemon in that fancy classic that has a for sale sign on it.I'm sure that with time,I'd get something good going with it but I am to impatient and I have never had a Remington that didn't live up to it's accuracy claims and they fit me better then any other rifle. Don't be afraid of the SPS,it's a nice rifle.
