Winchester's response to the leverevolution?
« on: June 09, 2007, 01:05:46 PM »
I came across this tonight when looking around on the web.  It is a hair slower(10fps), and 10 grs. lighter, but it looks like Winchester can't let Hornady have the entire market to themselves.

It doesn't appear to have any significant better downrange ballistics than Winchester's 150gr Silvertip and lags well behind the Leverevolution.

That's what I was thinking too Tim, but it has that fancy shmancy plastic tip that is all the craze now a days...kind of like putting a spoiler on a yugo...at least it looks fast ;).

 The problem with any 30-30 ammo comparisons is the MFG's published ballistics fall WAY short of velocities from 20" barrels.

 2216 FPS ::)

 I doubt the new winchester loading will be any different.

2217fps???

Here are some folks with a little bit different resutls...

Still not the advertised 2660fps, but better than standard .30-30 ammo by quite a ways.

 Of course it's better than STD 30-30, Cause it's a different cartridge. 308 marlin express IS NOT 30-30
