mange
« on: June 13, 2007, 06:53:09 PM »
we were coming back from my grandparents house in very very rural alabama, when a half breed coyote runs out in the middle of the road at noon, all the fur on his back side was missing, i swear he looked 60% or 70% german shepard, but he ran off into the woods before we could get a real good look at him,is mange contagious to othe animals.

Mange is indeed passed on to other canines.Fox are usually the first ones hit, then coyotes and wolves.
 Dogs also can become infected.

Bogmaster is right on the money. I've been afraid for the fox in my area as I've killed a couple of coyotes in the past 2 years that were heavy afflicted with mange. But so far, those 2 coyotes were the only animals I've seen with it.
