Actually I think it was more a matter of uninformed people who THINK velocity matters in big bore handguns rather than knowledgeable folks who realize that anything over 1000 fps is completely adequate IF you do your job. And of course if you don't no amount of velocity or bullet diameter/weight is gonna make up for it. People who actually get out and use their guns KNOW that, those who get most of their info from magazines or the internet think velocity is king.
I've said all along that Ruger WILL NEVER EVER chamber any of their single actions for the .480 or .454 as it would require them to either make a new platform or to make it a five shot. Ruger will never do that as it would be an admission the current platform wasn't enough for a six shot gun and that is an admission they will never make.
