Ok,  I give up!! will someone tell me how to remove the gripes from a S&W 5906?

There is a pin at the bottom of the grip frame that holds the grips on.  With the gun made safe and the hammer down, drive that pin out with a punch and the grip panel, mainspring and mainspring cup will all come out together.  The grip panel sort of snaps into place...you may have to pry it up a tad to get it going.
