The T/C Renegade, with its 1 in 48" twist, (.50 & .54) is primarily a roundball, and conical shooter. Therefore I see no more versatility in a .50. I prefer the .54 caliber, as I shoot patched round balls. I like the idea of the extra energy that the .54 sends down range, when hunting. I have no trouble finding .54 caliber roundballs, or .54 T/C Maxi-Balls, for that matter. I make my own patches from pillow ticking, so that is not a problem either. As you have a Renegade, the two barrels, (.50 .54) are interchangeable on it. Why not have one of each !
