I lost my fliers, by buying 2002 Goex Cartridge.
It has been a long time getting rid of the KIK powder and the fliers that come with the case. Funny thing the first case was good stuff and the second wasn't worth a hoooot.
Went to the range today, not know what I might find with the cart. powder. I drop tubed the case plum full then compressed it with a lino bullet and then put the real bullet on top. I tried different compressions and it looks like this time it liked about .260 compression. The weight of a full case drop tubed is 53.5 grains and the velocity of a 365 Hoch WW bullet is 1215. I'm thinking that 1215 or so it just about right for silhouettes.
I did compare both KIK 2f and cart for velocity, near full case 52 grains, same compression and the results were KIK 1265 and cart was 1185... I can live with the velocity drop just by knowing that the fliers are gone.
All groups today was tight and no targets with 4 together and one out 2 inches (KIK).
Best group today was 53.5 cart, Rem 9 1/2 primers, full size cases, lubed and sized bullets to .377 and with Snow White lube, no wad, 358 grain W/W Hoch bullet at 3.18 OAL and .260 compression. Man what a pretty bullet.
I love this game. Oh this was in a win 1885 14 twist Green Mountain barrel, throated out SOME.
Any body else shoot the little one?

Just broke in my 38/55 heartburn last sunday with factory loads. IT sure do shoot, 1/5 scale ram at 100 and 5 out of 5 in the black. Them green barrels are shooters. I also had the c sharps out for the first time. 40/65 loaded with jacked bullits and a few lyman snover with xmp5744 It shot real good also. I read a lot about the c/sharps 75 as not that good buy shilo. All i can say is i am very happy with it. Nice wood with figure not plane. forend has same figure. Fit and finish a+. Match chamber had to run loaded cast bullits in converted 45/70 brass through sizer to get the neck ironed out to fit chamber. Was not expecting much from the cast load but was i surprised. Might be a new trick for me. Now you might wounder how long it took to get the rifle?

3 days after they got the ffl. In stock 1136.63. Pistol grip heavey round barrel no sights. Han them put on blade and buckhorn rear so i could shoot it as soon as i got it, while i wated for my target sights to come in. Now i an,t knocken shilo but for the money i spent i am real happy and i don,t have to coat it with olive oil. So ifen you want american at the same price at the italian get a c/sharps 75.

Hey Rdnck,

Where have you been? Havent seen you aroundwell anywhere, for a while. Did you get a steady job or something?

Man, Im really liking the MAR2002 Cartridge, low ES & SD, very good accuracy, and light fouling.

Now if you can just get those guys to make the 2003 the same way..Ill give you a hat! :lol:

BTW, GOOD LUCK at The Q. Ive got to sit this one out, but Ill be thinking of you guys. Well ok, maybe not you guys, but Ill be definitely thinking about Sidras cooking!

Coydog--The 2003 powder is every bit as good as the 2002. I am shooting some of each lot they make. I still am shooting some of the Nov. 2000 powder that I have been shooting since--you guessed it--Nov. of 2000, and everybody and his brother has newer and faster powder than I do. I am not griping, understand, as I get sd readings of 2 to 4 day in and day out, and really soft fouling.

Look, you really oughta seriously consider going AWOL and making this one. Sidra and I are debuting our new Shilohs that came in 3 weeks ago. We had about half of our ammo loaded, planning on using the old guns, and here come these. You guessed it, the 40-65 ammo we had loaded for Sidra wouldn't even chamber in the new Shiloh. Had to start EVERYTHING for that one over from scratch. We're still not sure that we are shooting the most accurate load/best bullet in her rifle. My 45-70 was no problem, as it shoots the ammo I had loaded for my older Shiloh that the factory rebarreled several months ago.

About the AWOL thing again. You need to come, AWOL or not. After your wife makes you a proud papa, it will be AT LEAST 21 years until you get to go more than 50 miles away from home and stay overnight unchaperoned again. Think about it. This may be your last chance for a while. Shoot straight, rdnck.

While Id love to see you, and more importantly the lovely Sidra with your new Shilohs, Im still going to have to sit this one out. Number one, I really dont feel comfortable about leaving my wife 8 months along to sit in a cow pasture for a week with a bunch of middle aged, balding, fat guys. :lol: And number two, my boss will not OK that much leave between the match and the babys arrival. Now that Im getting under the one-year mark till retirement, Ive got to conserve my leave. I plan on punching out 1 OCT 2004 and will have about 80 days saved up. Im thinking of taking most of the summer of 2004 OFF, to shoot and run dog trials. Hopefully, I wont screw up and get a job till fall. Or, maybe Ill sell it back! Two months pay equals about two full dress Shilohs or a couple of Ballards! I mean work isnt that bad is it?

Dont fret though, Ill still be getting out for hunts and shoots. I have a foolproof systemreally. Im so disorganized when it comes to dirty dishes and laundry that after two weeks at home my wife is begging me to leave. :lol: Im usually gone from home about 130 days a year anyway for work. She will not be able to handle it when Im retired and around all the time! :eek:

Wish I could make it, but it just wont fit in the grand scheme for this year.
