question
« on: June 18, 2007, 04:53:06 AM »
This will be an easy question for anyone using these pistols.  I shoot handguns often, and carry one most of the time but never got into these.  I have some items that I am going to list on Ebay.  One is a Thompson Center Arms, .223 Rem. "Super 14" with sights.  Does this fit a Contender, an Encore or what?  Thanks.

A "Super 14" is a Contender barrel.  To the best of my knowledge (and if I am wrong please someone correct this) Encore pistol barrels from the factory are all 15 inch.  Factory Contender barrels are all over the park, with lots of lengths and contours made over the years.  I know of Super 14 and Super 16 barrels making up the super series.

Factory Encore pistol barrels are not all 15 inch.  Some come in 10 and 12 inch versions as well.

Thanks for the replies.  This is exactly what I needed to learn.  Decades ago, I logged a woodlot right next to the Thompson Center factory in Rochester, NH but I have never shot one of their handguns and know nothing about them.  Thanks again.
