Williams fire site
« on: June 18, 2007, 05:06:39 AM »
Does anyone have a pic of this rear site on a sidekick- or can you tell me if the site mounts to the receiver or the barrel?
And no, I don't have one yet, so this may, in fact be a dumb question.  Wouldn't be my first one.

Thanks,
mike

It mounts to the barrel, is made of aluminum alloy, and has fiber optic inserts. Here is a pic.

You can also by the WGRS from H&R/NEF that is a peep sight and mounts to the two rear scope mount holesat the rear of the barrel just in front of the hammer.

Busta:

Do you use the WGRS as a ghost ring or with the supplied apperature?

What kind of accuracy can you get with that set up?

Thanks

I use the supplied aperture, .093" IIRC. You can also get .050" and .150" apertures for it or remove the aperture and use it as a ghost ring.

As far as accuracy, I have shot 1.4" and 1.6" 3 shot groups back to back with different bullets at 100 yds right before my last Colorado Elk Hunt. This was less than 2 weeks after I had a piece of steel ground out of my shooting eye too. ;) If I do my part, about 2" groups at 100 are not much problem off the bench. Never shot it as a ghost ring with the aperture removed, so couldn't comment on that. I am sure the groups would open up some at the longer ranges as a ghost ring.

The Williams WGRS-HR is only $18 from H&R/NEF Customer Service, twice that $36 most other places.

Can the WGRS be used with the front sight that is on the Huntsman?  Mine has those plastic sights that came from the factory and they have got to go. The front ramp looks kind of tall. Thanks.

gdog,

If you order the WGRS (#R03019) from H&R/NEF, you can get the front aluminum Williams Fire-Sight (#S03198) for about $5. I bought them both in 2005, $18 for the WGRS, $4.95 for the front sight. You won't be able to beat that price anywhere. The Williams front sight is shorter than the plastic junk and works just fine on my Huntsman with the WGRS.

Well, the Nice Lady sent my sights. They invoiced and charged me for the WGRS at $18.00 and the S03198 front sight at $4.95. Only problem was the front sight I got was the globe front sight like comes on the the BC. And the Nice Lady is on vacation until the 30th. If anybody has a S03198 front aluminum Firesight and screws they want to trade for a new globe front sight, give me a holler.
