Convert to box magazine?
« on: June 20, 2007, 05:07:33 PM »
Is it possible to convert a blind magazine Savage 110 action to a detachable box type?  If so, how?  Where would one obtain the parts?

You asked 3 questions and I can answer two of them.
Question 1
YES.  I have gone the opposite direction and back with one of my rifles.  Mine's left handed and noone made a synthetic stock for LH rifles with a detachable mag, so I converted it to blind.

Number 2
Depending on the age of the rifle, you'll need at LEAST a:
detachable mag, for your caliber class,
magazine well,
magazine ejector spring (not sure what it's REALLY called),
stock already setup for detachable mag,
The detach button,
most likely, new action screws to fit the new stock.

Number 3.
Try Brownells,
Midwayusa.com
or the classifieds at Savageshooters.com

You have to be a member to access them, I think, but WELL worth the time.  TONS of info there on just Savage rifles.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!
