savage 110 trigger
« on: June 22, 2007, 06:52:54 PM »
I have a savage 110 in 7mm mag that i picked up at local gun show that is missing the entire trigger group. I contacted savage and was told because of serial # they would not work on it. does anyone know of a "smith" who would just do this simple job? preferably  close to home( colorado)? thanxs!

There are replacement triggers for the Savage such as the Rifle Basix or Savage Shooters Supply.

You can probably get more information over at the Savage Shooters' forum

Just install an after market trigger such as a Timney.. Unless there is something else wrong also? Did you get any explanation as to why the trigger had gone missing??

Thats something Il looked at when I bought it . looks like its never been fired. was told it was an attempt to replace the trigger and it didnt quite work out but he didnt bother to bring the parts with him. Tried a no-go gauge in it, wouldnt close so Iam ok with the headspace, just need a trigger but dont feel real easy with messing with it, I do just fine with rem. and winchesterbut this one I think Ill pass on. Thanks for asking though!

Installing a Timney isn't too bad, as long as there's nothing been done to alter the rifle adversely. Usually the Timneys are really simple drop in units.. The worst I've done was the 452 unit for the CZ 22 rifle.. Lots of wood relieving and still have a few clearance issues.. Bolt release is dragging on the bolt also... The Savages are usually really good shooting weapons and fairly easy to work on.. Their triggers are a weakness though.  Good luck and let us know if you need any help or have questions.. Love the caliber too!
