Names to Country western songs
« on: June 23, 2007, 11:01:21 AM »
;D Folks need help.  I'm very poor at remembering song titles and who or when published.  Could some one help me who is good at this.

Song #1,  I think Willie Nelson, about the Texas Rangers,  Lyrics talk about giving his men a shot of whiskey and his horses a beer.  ???

Song #2  quite a few years ago, love song about a grandfather telling his Grandson about how he met his grandmother and fell in love a very moving song  :'(,  I believe part of the lyrics went "Loving you".  ???

Song #3  Another love song, about a father talking about love and how his son should treat the little girl down the street he is falling in love with, lyrics about treating women, daughters, mothers.  This is the hardest one to remember, again very touching a very moving song  :'(, this one would make even a cowboy cry.

I believe all were in the last 10 years and in the top 40 hits in C&W.  Boy I hate getting old but these are great songs I would like played at my retirement or funeral.  Thanks all for any help you can give Old Moss   ;D :D
Best regards, be safe, and keep your powder dry!
Thanks Old Moss

Could the first one be by Toby Keith?

Whiskey For My Men, Beer For My Horses lyrics

Well a man, come on
Six o'clock news
Says somebody been shot
Somebody's been abused
Somebody blew up a building
Somebody stole their car
Somebody got away
Somebody didn't get too far, yeah
They didn't get too far

Grandpappy told my pappy
Back in my day, son
A man had to answer
For the wicked thing he done
Take all the rope in Texas
Find a tall oak tree
Round up all of them bad boys
And hang 'em high in the street
For all the people to see

And justice is the one thing
You should always find
You gotta saddle up your boys
You gotta draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles
We'll sing a victory tune
And we'll all meet back
At the local saloon

We'll raises up our glasses
Against evil forces
Singing, "Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses!"

We got too many gangsters
Doing dirty deeds
Too much corruption
And crime in the streets
It's time the long arm of the law
Put a few more in the ground
Send them all to their Maker
And he'll set them on down
You can bet, He'll set 'em down

Cause justice is the one thing
You should always find
You gotta saddle up your boys
You gotta draw a hard line
When the gunsmoke settles
We'll sing a victory tune
And we'll all meet back
At the local saloon

And we'll raise up our glasses
Against evil forces
Singing, "Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses!"
Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses!

You know justice is the one thing
You should always find
You gotta saddle up your boys
You gotta draw a hard line
When the gunsmoke settles
We'll sing a victory tune
And we'll all met back
At the local saloon

We'll raise up our glasses
Against evil forces
Singing, "Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses!"
Singing ,"Whiskey for my men, beer for my horses!'
"Extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice. Tolerance in the face of tyranny is no virtue."

Your both right in a way on the first one.  Toby Keith wrote it and asked Willie to record it with him which he did.

As far as the other two go, your description could fit about 50 or so country songs.   :D

With songs like these, country music is here to stay.  Hear the titles, then crank up the volume and enjoy the song.

How about that old classic love song  "If my nose was full of nickels I'd blow it all on you"
