Freedom Arms Fit & Finish Compared to other fine guns
« on: June 27, 2007, 07:46:47 AM »
In past decades a couple of standards in super fit and finish were the original Colt Pythons from their Custom Shop and the pre-war S&W revolvers like the Registered Magnums. Today none of the makers can afford to offer this lever of hand fit and finish and sell at close to reseanable prices. How do you feel the level of fit and part matching of the F.A. Premier Guns compare to the two examples that I mentioned?  Of course my examples were highly polished and blued not S.S. but each had a lot of hand work to fit parts and give smooth function.

I think that about 99% of FA gun owners would say their guns are top notch in both catagories.  Mine certainly are.

Beauty is not only in the fit and finish, but in the accuracy as well.  I would say that the FA's  are better quality than the other two examples you used.  My 475 will shoot a small ragged hole for a group from a rest at 25 yards.  That to me is quality.

I had a field grade 454 that I sent back and had the trigger worked, a 10 factory ported barrel installed, and they set the cylinder gap so close you could barely see the gap. Awesome accuracy with factory 300's, 1" groups at 75 yards from a rest. Broke my wrist in 5 places in an accident at work, the wrist works ok, but it wouldn't take the recoil of that 10" ported barrel. Had to let it go to someone who could and would shoot it. I was amazed, that heavier 10" barrel combined with the ported barrel braught the recoil straight back, very little muzzle flip. That was one fine revolver, some of the best fit and function I've seen so far.

Just my .02 cents worth though.
