Scope Recommendations?
« on: June 27, 2007, 08:24:07 AM »
I have begun to deal with a degenerative eye disease that robs a little (or a lot) every year and my days of open sights are essentially over.  I am looking for recommendations on low power fixed or variable that mount easily on a handi. I like the old Weaver and Redfield low power scopes because of there streamlined design.  What currently available scopes work for you that fit my criteria?

Thanks guys.

Weaver K2.5x20 is one of the nice ones if you don't mind gloss, if you can find a V3, it's another. Both of these are made in Japan. I don't think you'd go wrong with any of the 2-7x variables either. The Optic Zone has free shipping on all their <$300 Nikon scopes, the 2-7x32 Prostaff shotgun scope is a nice scope, got one of em myself, mounted it on my .500 S&W, it has a parallax free setting of 75yds, but I don't think that would hurt a bit, I've have a shotgun scope mounted on one of my 45-70s, shot 2½"-3" groups at 200yds with it. ;)

My favorite, by far, is the LEUPOLD VXII line. Specifically the 2-7 and 1-4 power. They offer excellent optics, better than usual eye relief and a cannot be beat warranty.

A Leupold would look good on a fence post....thanks for the pic...Come to think of it I hae a compact Leupold 4x on a 250 Savage in the safe.  I might do a little scope swapping...
