7-30 Waters Loads
« on: June 28, 2007, 05:35:12 AM »
I finally have all my brass fire-formed and ready to reload.  Now all I need is some load data.  Could you guys give me your deer loads and If you have any elk loads I would appreciate it as well.  Right now I have 120 gr. bullets in the Hornady V-Max and the Ballistic tip noslers.  If I have to get some others that won't be a problem.  I have a 12" hunter barrel from T/C.  Just let me know what powder you use, how many grains, FPS  if you have had it chronied.  Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

My favorite load for my T/C  7x30 Waters in a 14" Hunter barrel is:
Fed fireformed 30-30 brass, Fed 210 primers, 36.5 grs of W-748 powder, 120 gr Nosler BT bullets, seated to 2.850 OAL. Velocity is about 2400 fps.
I have a 2x-7x scope on this barrel and it will shoot ragged holes all day long if I do my part.

OLDHandgunner has a good load. It shoots great in my contender, in the summer.

If you live in Mn and if the winters stay mild that may be the way to go.

I shoot year round. On days where it is much below zero, using 748, I have to change the load. The groups grow a lot. With Varget, the groups are not quite as good, but there is little change between hot and cold.

just something to think about,

I was just out with my 7-30 today.  Shooting 120 BT with 36 gns Reloader 15, 130 Sierra Match with 35 gns of Reloader 15 and 140 Accubonds with 34 gns of Reloader 15.  Groups with all of them were never over 3/4".  Next I will try the 150 Partitions with a smaller load of Reloader 15 for my fall black bear hunt.

Of course always be careful when following someone elses load data.  But these were all good for me.

Longwinters,

What kind of velocity are you getting from those loads?

Thanks,

Bob
