Looking for subsonic ammo (so I don't bother the neighbors) for a rifle.
What do you guys use?

I have a CZ 452 that really likes RWS Subsonic Hollowpoints. With the long barrel, the bullet impact in my small steel bullet trap makes more noise than the muzzle blast of the rifle.
Remington, CCI and Ely also make subsonic hollowpoints. You may want to check to see what works best in your gun.

Hi There,

I use the Winchester Sub Sonics which are actually made in Australia. There are accurate and work  well on small game. Having tried them in my several rimfire rifles and found them to peform very well in all of them. My main rifle is a BSA Super Sport Five which has had the barrel cut to 16 1/2" long and threaded for a sound moderator (Silencer). This last winter it has accounted for many Rats that have been raiding our bird feeders.

I've used Remington Sub-Sonics for years in alot of different 22's of mine. Most of the rifles & pistols shoot them very well. My T/C  22 Classic shoots them the best.

Hi,
Over the years I've used RWS Subs as well as Winchester and Remington subs.
I would have to recomend the Winchester and RWS as they have a heavier projectile than the Remington ammo. I've lost too many rabbits with the Remington subsonics and won't buy them again. They also aren't as accurate in my Brno model 2.
                      Regards Jon

I've used Remington, PMC and Aguila sub-sonics in various rifles and handguns. My CZ grouped best with the PMC but they are hard to find. The Remingtons were accurate but have the misfire problem common to all Remington rimfire ammo. I've stocked up on Aguila as an available compromise.
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.

PMC moderators for me, I never have found the winchesters, some people compare them to dynapoints accuracy wise. I have shot the remingtons when that is all that is available. They have a very dirty powder in them. As the gentleman pointed out above the longer the barrel you find the better you are in the noise department.

On the extreme side (and not a hollow point) is the CCI CB Short that I will use now and again around here.
These 29gr bullets moving at 710fps are quiet enough to shoot in the basement but have enough authority for the feral cat @ 15-20yds with a well placed shot.

I gotta agree with glanceblamm, except I use CCI CB longs. With proper shot placement, I've taken raccoons and cats with them. Out of my 39a with a 24" barrel, they sound like an air rifle, bullet impact is louder than report. HTH

I just got my notice that my 1K is heading my way, which should give me a chance to see if I like them.
