Marlin 1894SS .45 Colt with 16" barrel, laminated stock, fiber optic sights

How did I miss this?

I went in a little "pawn" shop at lunch today with some friends.  They carry many new guns.  I noticed something really cool on the rack ==>>  a .45 Colt 1894 in stainless with a 16" barrel, laminated stock, and fiber optic sights.  The exact length of barrel I'm unsure about, but definitely not more than 18" with no barrel band and full length magazine.

It was beautiful.  Everything we looked at was brand new, and this 1894 didn't even have fingerprints on it.  It was mighty fine, but the price on the tag was $599.00.

Was this a run from a few years ago?

They are a spcl. run, I think from last year.My local shop has one too.599.00 sounds about 99 dollars too high.

That's exactly what I was thinking regarding the price.  I'd pay $450.00 in a heartbeat, but I still may have to pay more because who knows when I'll have such a great opportunity at such a great little carbine.

I have often considered a 45 Colt in a rifle since I have that caliber in a revolver. The model you describe sounds like a very compact carryable rifle for the deer woods, with a revolver of the same caliber holstered on your hip. I think you should buy it before I do.

You better scoop that rifle up fast.  There were only 250 of them in 45 colt.  I have only seen two of the stainless limited 1894s.  The first one I saw one day and went home to check them out and by the time I got back to the shop them next day it had sold.  The second one never left my hand.  Mine is in 41 mag and there were only 250 of them made too.  The 44 mag and 357 had 350 of each of caliber.  I got out the door for under $600 (not by much) and I feel that I got a good deal.  Dont let a little more money keep you from missing out on a rifle you want. You will regret it later.

Cheesehead, it felt really awful when I put it up to my shoulder.     You don't know about the shop I'm talking about, do you?   

jbadams66, you are definitely right.  I'll try to get as low of a price as possible, but I'll pay the asking price for this beauty if I have to. 

I already have .45 Colts in Winchester Trappers, EMFs, and a Marlin cowboy, but this one seems like a must-have. 

It felt great off-hand.  Some people like longer barrels for shooting offhand, but I like all the short lever-actions I have.  While I have put a scope on a Winchester 94AE before, only a few Marlin lever-actions wear scopes at our house.
