Model '94, need some help please
« on: June 30, 2007, 07:46:49 PM »
I picked up this box o' parts rifle as a fun project, thought it would be cool to have an old lever gun. It looked like all the parts are there and the guy assured me it should all go together. Yeah, I know. :P
Anyway so far it's not too bad but the locking bolt doesn't seem right and not sure what is going on. The only diagrams I have available are in the Numrich catalog and it looks like he got parts for the 1894S or CS. Looking at the pictures though the parts look more like the model 1889 but the tang is stamped "Marlin '94".
I'm wondering if I got screwed with a bunch of mismatched parts  that will never go together of if one or two need to be swapped or if I can modify something to fit? ANY input, advise, questions or help would be great. It came with an octagonal barrel stamped as 32-20, it was not screwed into the receiver when I got it but it does fit and the timing appears correct. There is a bag with labeled extractor, ejector, pins, springs and small bits and it looks like all the pieces are accounted for. I'm just not convinced they are all for the same gun.

I'm pretty handy with bolt guns and pistols but no history with lever guns. I have machine tools and know how to use them so I can make or modify what needs it. I have built several guns before but again, no lever guns. If you can tell anything from the pictures or can tell me what to look for or look at I would love to at least know what the hell I've got a box of!
Thanks a million!

You have two options 1-go to a gunsmith or 2- go to marlinowners.com. ;)
