375 jdj Reloading feedback
« on: July 01, 2007, 05:54:17 AM »
Can anyone with a 375 JDJ pistol barrel please reply with any plinking or low velocity loadings you may use in this barrel.
I bought a pistol with a 375 JDJ barrel on it mostly to get the frame but also as an "I've never shot anything this potent' endeavor.
That may never change as the round does look/sound intimidating.
I figure there must be a relative mild to robust loading somewhere between the top end and low end of loadings for this cartridge.
Any cast loading information would especially be appreciated.
Thanks.

Kywoodworker, lighter in which way? One can use lighter bullets(Sierra 200grs or Speer 235grs) and receive less recoil. Different powders can give less frontal blast than some others. I believe 4895 works well in a 375jdj. Give J.D. JONES a call and he'll let you know.  Pat

Pat,
Thanks for the very good advise.
Never thought about going to the source! ::)
Looking for loads resulting in less recoil, something fairly comfortable.
Hate selling any barrel but if this doesn't have some fun loads, then I may have to pursue that avenue.
I reload many calibers so another one isn't any stress on me.
Other than buying the needed die set! $70-85 OUCH!
Will endeavor to try and contact the author of the cartridge and see what he has to say about it.
Can work up some loads, but why cut a trail if one is already there.
Thanks again.
