I have to ask:

Do you have a loading manual?

Do you reload now?

Blue Dot is suitable for most shotgun, many large pistol and some very small rifle cartridges. It might have some application for very light loads using cast bullets in the .243, but it's much too fast-burning for general use in it.

Au contraire Mr. generis,
I need to take but a bit of mild exception to your statement about Blue Dot .
I have been reloading for slightly over 50 years now -still have all my fingers and facial components, too-  used BD in many rifle applications, incld. 243 with great success.
Do a little exploration about different gun sites and there is a wealth of data to be harvested on using BD for lower powered plinking and varmint loads.
Seems to be that BD is quite versatile as long as you know what you are doing.

Dusty- look for postings from Seafire and you will find mucho grande information on this subject.

I guess it depends on how you define "varmint load" for the .243 - BD wouldn't be on my radar for that application in that cartridge.

The use of BlueDot for varmint loads is very common, in .224" bores with light bullets at least.  While velocities are slightly lower than what is achieved with slower powders in the .223 (where I have a lot of experience with it) recoil is very low, it is pretty quiet, and it's well noted for outstanding accuracy in most rifles.  Combined with low barrel heating it is an excellent  choice for varmint shooters who do not need that last 25 yards of range and who do not want to risk shooting out a barrel while fending off charging herds of p-dogs.    I bet it would make a great  varmint load with 55-grain bullets at .223 velocities in the .243.   I'll have to try it...

It must be fully understood that BlueDot loads are not  low pressure loads, and care must be taken when reloading with it.  But then that goes for any  powder, doesn't it?
