The use of BlueDot for varmint loads is very common, in .224" bores with light bullets at least. While velocities are slightly lower than what is achieved with slower powders in the .223 (where I have a lot of experience with it) recoil is very low, it is pretty quiet, and it's well noted for outstanding accuracy in most rifles. Combined with low barrel heating it is an excellent choice for varmint shooters who do not need that last 25 yards of range and who do not want to risk shooting out a barrel while fending off charging herds of p-dogs. I bet it would make a great varmint load with 55-grain bullets at .223 velocities in the .243. I'll have to try it...
It must be fully understood that BlueDot loads are not low pressure loads, and care must be taken when reloading with it. But then that goes for any powder, doesn't it?
