Trigger guard extension for old Contender?
« on: July 04, 2007, 04:48:39 PM »
Hello all,

New member with a question about a Contender. I have an old model Contender, pre-easy open frame, circa 1979. It has never been a problem for me to open. Recently I have outfitted it with a couple of carbine barrels for my 10 year old daughter to shoot. I have a 22 lr bbl for practice, squirrels and rabbits, and a 6.8 SPC bbl for deer. She just doesn't have the hand strength to open the action herself. The lockup is fine though, it's not the gun, it's her small hands...

It seems to my memory that there used to be an accessory extension available that clamped or attached to the trigger guard, that allowed for more leverage to open the action? Does anyone else remember this accessory? I don't remember if it was a TC item or aftermarket? If someone has one they don't need, I'd like to buy one, or if you can point me to the website or company that makes them, please PM me or email me.

I know I could send the frame off to TC to be modified to the "easy open" frame, I'd just rather not. There's nothing wrong with the frame or lockup on any of the barrels, new or old. I still shoot the Contender myself, mostly as a handgun. I have large hands, and can open the action just fine. I know my daughter will "grow into" being able to open it as she gets older and gains strength, I'm just looking for something to help her open it now.

Thanks.

While I do appreciate the reply, I must confess I don't understand it. "Mike (censored word) website" doesn't mean anything to me.

If for some reason I'm not aware of, you aren't allowed to post the website here, could you either PM me or email it to me?

Thank you.
