Lubes for Triple 7

I'm experimenting with a Lyman GPR that I had Bobby Hoyt rebarrel to .458!  When I shoot 777 in my .45-70 and .44-40 Iron Henry, I use modern lubes and they work just fine.  I have heard that BP lubes don't mesh well with 777.  Anyone have this experience? 

Over the weekend, I did some shooting and was using a mixture of beeswax and bore butter to lube my conicals and there seemed to be some sticky spots on the way down. 

I'm wondering if there is a different lube to use.  I recall reading that Hogdon didn't even recommend lube with 777.  Comments?

I would think without lube, you will lead the barrel. Also reloading must be tough without lubing as the lube softens the fouling, as you are ramming the projectile. When I shoot conicals, I use real black powder with T/C Bore Butter/Natural Lube 1000 Plus. No problems.

Thank you.  When I shoot real black powder in my flinters, I also use Bore butter or Wonderlube along with my beeswax to allow for a firmer lube that resists the heat a little better.  My question revolves around 777 and black powder lubes.  The Hodgdon site indicates that they recognize black powder lubes have resulted in difficult fouling with their product and suggest wax based conical lubes used with smokeless ammo.  Was just wondering what everyone...or anyone elses experience showed.

I don't know about smokeless ammo or how that comment is valid on a trad arms board. But I use t-7's a bunch.
 The stuff likes' a water based lube. the "crud ring" you speak of is common. Don't worry about accuracy for the first shot or three, any kind of petroleum or wax type product will result in "build-up'.
 t-7 is a hot, sporting grade powder,(tried Swiss?) and need's to be cared for as such. if your use too olde school" then drop your charge a bit,, an "spit swab' tween shot's,
 The fouling from t-7 is so far different than "Goex", it does require different school. Use more water based stuff and less wax,,,,,,,,,swab more.

By "water based" are you referring to Bore Butter and Wonderlube style of lubes?

p.s.  My comment about "smokeless" ammo was merely pointing out what the Hodgdon web site was saying.  Not in reference to any particular "smokeless" ammunition or attempting to get a disscussion centering around "smokeless" ammo.  However, I have noted that when I load 777 in cartridges using the hard lubes that come with manufactured bullets or the stick lubes I use for my other bullet sizing operations, there are no fouling issues in the bores.  There may be in the fired cases, but they only get one shot between cleanings.

 Sorry Dan, I had to put that all together,, just so you could see it.,, Do you see what you are doing? Mixing "flinters", borebutter, wonderlube, and beeswax with cartridge rifles, black powder and t-7.

 Ya want the best of all worlds, and we all do. It's just a simple fact that they don't mix.

Bore Butter is paraffin wax like chap stick,
Wonderlube is synthetic spit,
Bees wax is natural and so is their nest, until someone presses the wax through an extruder with a 1000 micron screen at 900 psi and forms it into 1/4 pound blocks.

Alright, now that you've laid it all out, do you have a recommendation?  Since you previously suggested water based lube for 777, is your recommendation therefore "Synthetic Spit?"
