Barrels, from newcomer

I've been lurking around here for a little while and will be making my first T/C purchase soon. My question is; do barrels need to be "fitted" to the frame or are they interchangeable? I own a Handi-rifle and the bbls for that need to be "fittted" (?) at the factory but are Contenders (and it's variants) bbls. the same?

 Thanks in advance for any help to a newbie!

Contender barrels are designed to function on all Contender frames.  Occasionally, a change of the style of barrel locking bolts is needed, but that is an easy job.  Hope this helps.

Most of us have never had to do anything to add a barrel. I also have and shoot Handis so I know why you ask.
