20ga Ultra

My local dealer has a 20ga Ultra Slug Hunter with a multi colored laminate stock and a gold medellion in the right side. Is $270 a good price? Neither the receiver nor the barrel say SB1 or SB2, just Ultra Slug Hunter. Can a rifle barrel be added?

No, none of the shotgun frames can be used with a rifle barrel.

That's a bit high for a used one, for a few bucks more, you can get a thumbhole Ultra.

The $270 seems a little high to me I bought a 20GA USH for about $230 however it did not have a medallion in stock .According to what I remember you can only add a muzzle loader barrel to a shotgun frame,go to www.hr1871.com ,customer support ,barrel acc

I was under the impression that we long ago concluded that the the Ultras where SB1 receivers and therefore SUITABLE for rifle barrels??

 For older stuff, case hardened was shotgun blued was rifle???

CW,

The 20ga Ultra Slug Hunter has a SB1 frame, no rifle barrels can be added.

The 12ga Ultra Slug Hunter has a SB2 (10ga)frame, but it is a different frame than the SB2 Rifle frame, and therefore no rifle barrels can be added.

USH Deluxe
12 Gauge (SB2-988)
20 Gauge (SB1-928)

USH
NEW 12 Gauge with scope (SBS-980)
12 Gauge (SB2-980)
20 Gauge (SB1-920)

USH Youth
20 Gauge (SB1-925)

Bottom line is neither can have rifle barrels fitted, other than rifled shotgun barrels.

CW, you might be confused by my 10ga thread, the 12ga USH uses a 10ga frame which is a heat treated SB2 frame, but not the same as an SB2 rifle frame, the chamber swell is 1.2" on the 10ga and 12ga USH, so it's too big to fit a 1.1" rifle barrel properly. That and the fact that the shotgun has a larger firing pin and recess, plus the side rails of the frame are much thinner than an SB2 rifle frame make it unsuitable for any rifle barrel and the reason why H&R won't fit them to it.

Not to state the obvious, but just buy the Handi rifle you are interested in and then send it back for the 20ga USH barrel.  That is what my plan is.  Although I REALLY like the Thumbhole stock.

 I knew the 12Ga Ultra was on a 10ga frame...but this thread was about 20ga ultra.
