berger 168 VLD(7mm)

Any thoughts or experinces with this bullet as a HUNTING bullet. Have a 7rum loaded with 150 sciroccos and now will be shooting the 150 SS in a reg 7mag. Thought about making a long range gun out of the 7rum and the 168VLD's seem to be a good place to start.

I'm of the same opinion.

If you can get a copy of the recent Handloader magazine, you ought to read the article on Walter Berger, et. als. recent New Zealand hunt in which Berger VLDs in various cartridges were used to take red stag, goats, etc.

I haven't taken any game with them, but they're the bullet of choice on the TV show The Best of the West, and they drop a lot of critters with 'em.  I read the Handloader article and they spoke very highly of them.

You can see a .pdf file preview of the magazine on their website, www.riflemagazine.com.  With a modem connection, I don't have the patience to see if the berger bullet article is on there.  If it is, I doubt they posted the entire article (no one would pay for the magazine if you could read it on-line for free).
