What are good airsoft brands?

A buddy of mine got me interested in airsoft when he showed me his clear plastic Beretta 92FS look-a-like that had batteries.  It was pretty accurate and very amusing so I got some M-4 looking deal off ebay for about $45.  It was cheap, electric and had full auto so I figured I couldn't loose.  Well it was junk after the first little while.  I'm still thinking of getting another one, but I won't spend more than $50 because I'm not going to get into the sport.  If anything I'll just shoot pop cans or use paintballs on the neighbors cat. 

Are the clear plastic cheapo's the way to go?

I have a airsoft pistol it's brand is a crossman. I love the gun to death, it is very accurate I can hit a sign at 25 yards with my eyes closed.
