Loggy Bayou Brush Ladder
« on: July 09, 2007, 07:04:28 AM »
Disappointed.
Great once put together, nice and light (30 pounds) but too hard getting it together.
The metal railings fit too tight.

My reason for purchasing this ladder stand was that it would be more versatile than my climber (put it on any tree) and still be able to carry it in and out on my back.
After all the cussing and pounding in my garage, I don't think it will do what I wanted, yet.

I'm going to try to sand down the edges or maybe pinch the edges of the male ends and see if it works better.

Called customer service and they were friendly, but said, "yes the fit is too tight.  Sorry".

There really is no such thing as a "portable" ladder stand. They are put up and leave for an extended time stands not stands to take with you to put up hunt from and remove. Lock on stands are pretty much any tree stands but are a lot of hassle to me to put up and take down and if you use anything but strap on or screw in steps they become like ladder stands not so portable.

I had high hopes for this one at 30 pounds, but it is harder than expected to put together.
Bass Pro has a couple of "packable ladder stands" by API at 20.5 to 24 pounds with 7' to 15' respectively; however they are $250-300.
The Loggy Bayou was $79...
Oh well, start saving up for the next purchase   ;D

Sanded down some of the powder coat and tried to get it to fit together better last night.  It helped, but still a little grunting involved.
I tied the thing together with cable ties for transport and it worked pretty well.  Now to attach some shoulder straps...

I just received my Loggy brush ladder today from Cabela's.  The seem to have the fit issues resolved.
