v notch sights for Ruger Hunter
« on: July 11, 2007, 03:13:29 AM »
Have a Ruger Bisley Hunter in 44 Magnum and want to install V Notch rear and bead front sight for deer hunting.  Don't care for fibre optic sights as they wash out to my eyes.  Ruger offers them for the Redhawk but not the Hunter Blackhawk, and I notice on my Redhawk that the rib is a completely different width so the sights are not interchangeable.

I have the V notch rear and bead front on my Redhawk .41 and my Single Six Hunter and really like it.  I took a deer with the Redhawk last year and I thought it worked very well.

Anyone know where I could get other sights that would fit the Ruger Hunter Bisley including the V notch or any other alternatives?

Also, my gold beads on those two other guns tarnish quickly to black.  Any thoughts on how to clean without wearing on them by rubbing or polishing?

Thanks.

Be honest with yourself.  Can you guarantee you would hit a paper plate at 250 yards...100 yards...50 yards?  Then you have no business replacing the plate with a live animal.

The Bowen Rough Country sights come in a v-notch.

Gary Reeder did a great job on a Bisley for me.

rimfire, might I suggest you get some fishing lure paint....a bottle of white base, & a bottle of International Orange, & coat that brass bead first with the base, then the Int'l Orange. That bead'll be hard to miss focusing on when you bring the gun up, IMHO. Just my 2 cents, jd45
