Ammo prices going up
« on: July 13, 2007, 08:50:17 PM »

Guys:

I was at my favorite gun shop today picking up a nice new rifle for the youngest..when my gun dealer told me to start stocking up on factory ammo & components while I can...He said all of them will be raising their prices by at least 25% by the end of the month...Seems this the longer this war drags on...the higher everything is going to go...I knew it was just a matter of time before another large price increase was going to happen...and looks like it is already set to take place...Get what you can...while you can...

Ammunition prices are expected to rise 15-25% over the next
several months.

Below is a list of all the ammo we currently have available.
Not only will prices increase but supply may become scarce.

What happened to days when I could reload jacketed rounds for 10 - 11 cents? >:( It costs that much or more for the bullets alone and they are going up??? I just ordered 750 .224 bullets from Midsouth for $65 + shipping, may have to order some more >:(

I hear yah!  The one thing I tell my friends is keep all their brass even if they don't reload.  I would take it even if right now I don't reload for it.  I bought myself my first AR a few months ago (Smith & Wesson 15T).  Around December a blue box of black hills 55gr of 50 was around $16 a box.  Now they are near $25.  I picked up my Lee dies for .223 the other day.  Hopefully in a few months the price will come down a little bit.

Yep, brass is going up too. It was not that long ago I could get 223 Winchester brass for $13/100. Now it up to close to $20 and it is going up? ouch!!! Not even going to mention my other cartridges. Lapua brass is looking cheaper all of the time. It used to be about 3 - 4 times as much as Winchester now it is about double. :o

SS...Your Welcome...

Just thought I would pass this along so guys could get what they need now for the fall hunting season...

Redhawk.....the prices won't come back down...they didn't after the first Gulf War...everything cost more...I bought about 200lbs of shot before that one at $8.00 a bag for chilled magnum  and $12.98 for copper plated magnum..2weeks after we went in..it would have cost me $6.00 a bag more...now look at it...it's more than doubled from that price...With the higher fuel cost and this war...it's getting to be very expensive to shoot or hunt any more... :-[

Cast bullets are looking better and better all the time.    Thank God (inserted deliberately) that lead has not gone up so fast in price.    I may have to start going to the local salvage yard to get some wheelweights.

Tim'

i posted the old guys picture months ago at work.   it was a hoot.  it'd been a part of that joke about a guy who had 'learned to do without'.

the link was good, too.
