Browning B78 243 Win rate of twist ?
« on: July 14, 2007, 09:56:58 PM »
Could someone possibly advise me of the rate of twist for my old Browning B78 High Wall 243 Win rifle - it has the original round 26 inch heavy barrel and, judging by the irregular group sizes (tested at various seating depths), it doesn't appear to like shooting Hornady 95 Gr SST bullets !?
I'm quite please with the groupings of the Hornady 65, 75 and 87 Gr V-Max bullets - maybe it only likes the 'lighter' bullets. Many thanks.

Most all factory produced 243's have a 1-10" twist. The 244Rem had a 1-12" and the 243 Rem Varmint had a 1-9.125".

It is easy to check the twist, go to FAQ on the H&R/NEF Handi forum to find out..
