512 / 514 rear sight screw thread
« on: July 15, 2007, 10:51:42 AM »
The 512 is shooting low and I want to raise the rear sight with a shim, so I need a longer screw.  The 512 and 514 have rthe same rear sight.  Does anyone know the thread so I can search around for a longer  screw.  Thanks.

Most every sight I have seen that was screwed on uses a 6/48 thread. Now I suppose their could be exceptions but I would bet 90  percent use that screw which is the same screw that scope rings and bases use. There is a bigger one too that they sometimes used which I think was a 8/40 on scope bases but for any rear sight I have come across most all were 6/48
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.
