380 Snake Shot?
« on: July 16, 2007, 03:58:20 AM »
Anyone make snake shot for the 380?

Looking at getting a Kel Tec P3AT and was thinking I could make a snake gun out of it, too.
Any comments on the Kel Tec?

I'm getting the impression you are going to use snake shot in a 380 ACP as a self-defense load!!  The shooting business gets curiouser and curiouser every day!!! :D

Not sure how you got that impression, I said I wanted to make the 380 a snake gun, not snake loads for self defense.

Looking for snake shot for a 380, for snakes.

I have never seen a commerical load in .380, not even in Europe.  I think to get a .380 snake shot you will have to load your own, and I have no idea where you would find data to do that.

I am sure there are no capsules available for the .380, so it would have to be loaded using wadding, and they likely would not feed for semi-auto fire.

Reliable feeding would be a big concern in a semi auto .380

You don't have enough case volume with out a capsule! If you've ever shot 22 bird shot loads you know they not any good for nothing but mice maybe! I think the use of these in a semi -auto would also make it a single shoot as they wouldn't produce enough blowback pressure :o

As Puma stated, Insufficient case volume. About the minimum effective handgun shot, (well, fairly effective) is the .38spl.
