My first Kimber
« on: July 18, 2007, 11:38:38 AM »
All I can say is WOW , i just got home with my first ever kimber . It is a 1911 45 stainless II, I picked it up for $ 625 bucks at the local pawn shop . It is used but in like new condition, i have only put a few rounds through it , but so far I am very impressed. I have owned a few 1911's of various manufacturer's ,but nothing has came close to the fit and feel of this gun. I feel like I got a great deal on this since everyone just raves about kimbers being the best well now i know why ! I hope to have many trouble free yrs out of this gun . IF anyone has anything (good or bad) to say from first hand experience plx feel free as I would like to know just what I have.  Thanks in advance for any first hand opinion or advice on this .

Sounds like the have the SS Custom ll. It's Kimber's entry level pistol. They are fine pistols. If you have any function problems, they can most often be traced to bad magazines in the 1911. Get at least a couple of the Wilson 8rd, or the Chip McCormic Power Mags to use in the pistol. Be sure and use a light coating of synthetic or lithium grease on the rails. It should run like a champ! I had a SS Custom Target l that I let get away from me. I have regretted it since! When I find another, I'll do all within my power to own it too. I currently have 5 other 1911s, among them is my favorite, a SS Pro Carry. Never had any problem with a the Kimbers I have owned. Enjoy your pistol!

Creekbear:

Good for you. I've had a stainless Kimber for 8 years and it is my "take it for granted" gun. I take for granted that it will work properly, that it shoots well, and that it is durable.

I haven't had any problems with it, and I've shot many thousands of rounds through it. The trigger does have a bit of creep in it, but it's tolerable.

My Pro CDP II is just the apple of my eye and it sure's heck can shoot straighter than I can see.  BTW, how do you plan to load it for SD purposes?
