POST YOUR SAA PICS
« on: July 18, 2007, 02:01:27 PM »
Last year the only handguns I owned were automatics, and I wondered why anybody would waste their time on revolvers......OK Im re-learning everything I forgot.  In the past 6 months Ive picked up a few DA revolvers, BUT now Im coming around to SAA's.  How about some of you folks that were quicker on the up take then me posting some pics of your treasures.

Im especially interested in the variations that dont pop up frequently in shops like custom guns and specials, BUT theyre all cool.  Come on lets see them...

Here are a couple of mine.  The one on the top is a 1957 .357 flat top.  The one on the bottom is a 50th anniversary .357 flat top.
There is nothing like a good single action.

Uberti 45colt & Jäger 22lr.

They´ll be more SAA´s in the future because they´re so much fun too shoot, especially with 35grains of blackpowder behind a 255gr. bullet in the 45. ;D

I don't have a SAA (Single Action Army) but I do have a number of single action (SA) revolvers that I have a lot of fun with.  The Ruger .45 Blackhawk is my favorite.  I reamed it's cylinder throats to .4525, the forcing cone to 11 degrees to clean it up, changed the trigger return spring to a 30 oz Wolf, and had some fatter cocobolo grips made for it that are flat bottomed.  The revolver is a total delight to shoot comfortable with loads from powder puff cowboy action to Ruger/Contender only.

The Beretta on the bottom is the most like the Colt SAA my Dad had when I was growing up.  I put a lot of rounds through Dad's Colt.  I bought the Beretta basically because it was irresistable.  The Beretta needed no touch up.  It was basically "perfect" from the factory though I bought it used at Cabela's in Dundee Michigan.   I just wish it had adjustable sights.

Of all the guns, only the .45 Blackhawk and the .22 Hunter were purchased new.  The rest came from gun shows or used gun counters in stores.

I just recently got interested in SA's myself.  Here is my only SA.  It's a Blackhawk .45 Colt with the following modifications: trigger return spring changed out to produce 2.5 lb pull, Belt Mountain base pin, free-wheeling cylinder, custom front sight, Bowen Rough Country rear sight, Bisley grip frame (including hammer and trigger), Buffalo Horn grips by Eagle, Cylinder throats reamed to .4525, and barrel firelapped.  Handles and shoots like a dream.  I don't even want to shoot my DA's anymore.

SAA, nope it was made back in the early 70's , i want to say 1974. funny you asked about uberti,i looked at an uberti cattleman at bass pro, regularly 420.00 on sale for 270.00. it does look somewhat like it ,but once you handle the dragoon and then the uberti that where any likeness ends. i think the sale is one of those deals to get you in the store
and it it is part of their annual fall classic.the flyer i got had a bunch of guns advertised as well as hunting stuff.have a good day,dan
