Anything new out there to simulate full size auto?
« on: July 18, 2007, 06:22:19 PM »
Hi guys,  I know there is the ruger with the 45 style grip, has anything else come around. I have a 45 xd springfield and want something that feels similar to practice with. Just for informal plinking. Thanks.

Yep, there is a .22lr conversion coming out for the XD in the next few months...actually late november the last time I heard (but it could be rumors). I've seen and heard several promising reports on the conversions...should be about $200-250.

There are also conversions for the 1911's out there.

just get yu any common .45 1911 and a couple of companies make 22 long rifle conversion kits, usually the .22 kit shoots better than the .45 ever did. i havent put my .45 barrel back on since i turned it into a .22 .

i found a used ciener conversion kit a few years ago at the big tulsa gun show for roun 90 buks. i dont think yull find one that cheap again less your really lucky. i put it on my old argentine colt and loved it, it is the most accurate rimfire handgun, heck most accurate handgun i own now.i think a new kit runs between 2 and 300$ now if i remember right.the ciener kit is a good one, but its aluminum and painted black, may not match the finish of your gun, if that matters. oh i think they have a silver brushed alum version too.you wont regret buying one im sure, look around, ive seen several of the kits used for way less than what they were new.

I was in Sportsmans Warehouse yesterday and saw they had a full size 1911 made by Kimber in .22lr.

Here's a link to it at the Kimber website!

For 1911s there is the Marvel conversion unit which allows you to put the conversion unit on your 1911 and shoot 22s. There are other companies that make such units for Glock and perhaps Beretta.
