See the FAQs, there's a couple links on painting Handis. There's also a link to many pages of pics in the "Lets see some Handis" thread.

Dale,

I just finished mine the other night, I will get some pictures posted later tonight when I get home.

Greg

The paint is the Krylon in a can camo paint, it was easy to use, for the pattern I just took part of a spruce tree limb and shot the paint through that. When I painted the barrel and action I didn't have the tan paint yet, going to wait and see what it looks like out in the field to decide if I will redo it.

I didn't do a handi.  I did a pardner pump.  Did it with Krylon Fusion and a grass stencil pattern I purchased on the internet.  Turned out really good.  I took it out and layed it in a grass field and then had my dad try to find it.  Took him a while.  I used a khaki background and an army green for the grass.  Obviously that will differ depending on your area.  Sorry, no pictures right now, as I am out of town.

I camoed my 45-70 Handi. I used the camo spray paint by i think Krylon. I put a base coat of black and followed that with splotched of green and light tan. Mine kind of looks like the Woodland camo that Mossberg used to put on shotguns. i think it looks pretty good. I also did a Remington 870 pump the same way. Sorry, I don't know how to post pics.

Dale,

It was dead simple to do too, wash the stock down with alcohol to clean off any oil etc, then put a base coat of pain on it, the wood has a base of tan flat camo on it, then decide what pattern you want on it, since I had a spruce tree in the yard I just grabbed a piece of it, then laid it over the gun and shot the next darker color over it, that was a khaki, then the dark green, then finished up with the black last. Just let it dry good between coats and use short burst of paint when your shooting through what ever you use.

Greg,

It does look good.  I have been toying with the idea of painting a stock in camo, just haven't taken the time to do.  Also, I was concerned that I might screw it up.

darat100,

I would be interested in seeing a photo of yours when you get back.  Also I would be interested in where you got your grass stencil.

243 Handi with new paint job. Took me a year to decide the final pattern.

I've found that if you hold you're stencil about an inch or two from the surface you get a nice fade effect from color to color.  I cut my own random pattern from a piece of stiff cardboard (which coincidentally ended up looking like the ghost on the ghost busters emblem).  The end result is a very professional looking tiger stripe pattern.  Scratches and chips are unavoidable and are easily touched up if you don't use a clearcoat.  I've found that even the flat clearcoats leave a shiny surface so I don't normally use them, but it may be worthwhile to clearcoat the grip surfaces and comb.  I've been toying with the idea of Rhino Lining my stock.  They sell it in spray cans at the auto mart for about $14 a can.  I'm afraid it might leave the surface a little too tacky, though.
