38 spl barrel value?
« on: July 19, 2007, 12:40:14 PM »
 Greetings,

I have a new in the box 10" octagon 38 special barrel.
I was wondering what it was worth, and how much value it would loose if I shot it ?

Thanks

Merle, I did not know for sure what the value of your barrel is so I did a little internet searching. The big auction site had two past sales, one sold for $152 and one for 220 with forearm and target sights and listed as very nice condition. Ed's contenders shows one for $145.
So there does appear to be some interest in that caliber barrel.

I personally don't think "New in box" and "hardly shot like new" would make a big price difference on a Contender barrel except for a collector who wanted an unfired one to add to his stash.

Value sometimes is determined by who wants it and how much they are willing to spend, so you might ask a really high price and the right customer might jump on it. You just never know.

Good luck and enjoy your barrel.

Thank you. I'm not very adept at searching the internet, so try to find a forum & ask for advice / opinions there. I bought this one new, shortly after TC discontinued the octagon barrels, and have never even mounted it to a gun. I bought a 12" octagon from the old TCA to shoot. Guess I'll hope for a collector who insists on a NIB for his collection.

 :) :)

Are you interested in selling?  If so can you please describe the bbl, does it have sites?

Archie, since both you and Merle are newcomers to Graybeard, sales don't take place on discussion forums.  Please read the rules.  They are very clear on this.  If you want to buy or sell go to the appropriate classified forum for the sale, or do it with personal messages or emails.

Thanks
