265 gr cast in 45 Colt
« on: July 19, 2007, 03:59:14 PM »
I am looking for a load for a 265 gr Cast performance Tech bullet that will push it about 1200-1300 fps out of a 4 5/8 Blackhawk.  I have H110, 2400 and Accurate #9.   Ditto for a 275 gr 44 mag out of 5.5 Redhawk.  Besides a good crimp any other precautions?  This is my first attempt at reloading hard cast lead.

There are loads that'll meet your needs, just be careful what guns you are using them in.

I have been shooting 24 grains of H-110 in my 4 5/8 inch Blackhawk with the 265 CP bullet. I got the load off of the CP website. Not sure on the velocity but it should be running at 1200 or so in my gun.

I double checked my load for the 45 Colt in my Blackhawk and I am using 24 grains of 296 with the 265 Cast LBT bullet not H-110.
