Good question, Nonya!

But I've heard conflicting stories about whether Paterson and Gimlin actually did admit that the film was a hoax.  What's the actual story on that?

M.K. Davis of Jackson, Mississippi has one of the ~16 original copies and has done extensive forensic photographic analysis of that film.  It's my understanding his findings illustrate muscle/skin movements and gait characteristics that could not have been faked using the technology/materials available back in the late 1960's.  He recently gave all (monetary) rights to his work to the late Roger Patterson's widow.

Yhe so the death bed confession of one of the two that filmed it along with the testimony of all his family/Friends that knew it was a hoax is overruled by your "experts" conclusion? They even interviewed the man who was wearing the suit and he reenacted the day for them,Im sure this was another govt. cover up right?

Pretty sure I saw the same show Cole is referring to. It sure made any hopes of the film being for real pretty slim. I've also seen what was "claimed" to be close ups and stills from the film and to my eyes at least even on my giant screen TV they sure looked like nothing more than blurrs that I can't see how anyone could claim show anything.

That's not to say the film was or was not faked as I just don't know and don't imagine I ever can know for sure. The gait of the "creature" in the film sure looked human to my eyes. I guess in my mind it's likely to remain a mystery but I lean toward fake in my evaluation based on everything I've seen of the work of others to prove or debunk it.

There was some controversy over the "confession" as afterward it appears some that were involved in that event "confessed" to a money motivation as the basis of their claims.  This has been discussed ad nausem on several BF websites with either side of the aisle passionate about their particular position.  Also, I have met M.K. Davis (FTF) as he went into the bush with us that evening on the now infamous "Louisiana Hunt" to help retrieve the wounded creature.  He did so totally unarmed and without any reservation so Cole, for you to attempt to label him in a derogatory fashion only adds to the perception of your predisposition to go off half-cocked about most anything of which you possess little or no firsthand experience or knowledge thereof.

All I know is the man must have cajones big as grapefruit plus has invested an extraordinary amount of his own time AND money in this photographic analysis work and has done so WITHOUT any recompense or expectation thereof.  NOW that you know a little more about this man to continue and engage in reckless characterization based upon blithe ignorance only leads many folks to believe that perhaps it is YOU that may well be a few degrees off plumb.

Nonya,

Will be traversing Montana in a few days--for the first time in my life.  I'll be on my way to a guided Bear hunt in Washington.  If I see any Big Feet along the way, I'll let you and T.'s.G. know.  In the meantime, don't point that magnum in my direction.

I went back and forth between my .300 magnum Browning and my 7 mm magnum Ruger trying to decide what gun to take and finally settled on the Ruger.  Should be adequate for either a Bear or a Big Foot.  I actually would feel comfortable with my .270 A-bolt--as long as I have my .41 magnun snubnose on my belt.

Given the above exchanges, I'm going to think about not asking any more questions.  Just think about it!  Who/what is "Oh Mah?"

"Oh-Mah" is one of the NA descriptive terms for BF.  Apparently, one often uttered by a tribal member when BF grabbed him by the short hairs?  ;D

Here's more "evidence" on why the field of so-called BF research reeks of a P. T. Barnum circus:

This is the "agenda" of the upcoming Honobia Bigfoot Festival;

Friday, October 5th & Saturday, October 6th, 2007

Location:

KIAMICHI MOUNTAIN MISSION CAMP GROUNDS at the intersection of the Indian Trail Highway and State Highway 144, Honobia, Oklahoma

Schedule of Events:

Friday - Bigfoot Conference (Times yet to be determined)

Saturday - Bigfoot Conference (Times yet to be determined)

Schedule of Speakers:

Bill Brann, Co-Author, "Monsters of the Northwoods" - Bigfoot in Northeast NY and VT.

Scott Shubbe, Alliance of Independent Bigfoot Researchers - Foot Castings

DW Lee, Director, Green Country Bigfoot Research Center - Research and Findings

Billy Willard, Director, Sasquatchwatch of Virginia - Bigfoot in the Mid-Atlantic States

Steve Kulls, Executive Director Squatchdetective.com, Host, Squatchdetective Radio - MC, Opening and Closing

I suspect our recently departed "Ash" may well be as sharp as a "razor" or as hot as a "fireman" but despite my being burned in effigy on another (low traffic) website all of their proclamations combined still amount up to .02 waiting on change.

There is actual research ongoing to help solve this mystery but you will not see it on any of these websites especially the above mentioned one that specializes in recounting camp fire boogeyman stories and rehashing yesterday's hash.

No, they are simply the circus barkers on the midway of the internet BF carnival.

Some people have asked me about the venom (on a couple of somewhat obscure websites) that has been directed at me of late.  "How do you feel about your "credibility" coming under such vicious attack, etc.".

My answer is the antagonists propagating such rhetoric are held (by me) is the same vein as the inmates of the movie "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and as such their "opinion" is further proof that 10 clowns indeed do not make a BF circus.  Also, these people have virtually no standing whatsoever with the vast majority of those people conducting serious, professional effort in the field of BF research.

However, in the interest of really seeing how these people operate and for the entertainment value thereof I invite anyone needing a good laugh to go over to the Bigfoot Study forum  ( http://www.gbofreeforums.info/Bigfootstudy/ )  and see for themselves.  I assure you it will be most illuminating.

Folks,

Don't know how you'll feel about this but I found it rather disturbing.

It seems (to the best of my knowledge & belief) the lead investigator for one of the main speakers at the upcoming Honobia BF circus has been using tactics some people might raise an eyebrow over.

It basically involves using his teenage (~@15) daughter as "bait" during recent BF "hunts" as he (allegedly) placed her used feminine hygiene articles around the proximity of said hunt while she was on the location.

IMHO, that is major sicko (aberrant) behavior.  He must have watched "King Kong" one time too many?

It has often been said that "desperate people will do desperate things" and this may well qualify as such especially with someone so intent upon being the first to "bag" a BF.

Additionally, he has a documented pattern & history of behavior involving threats of physical assault upon those he feels are getting in his way of killing a BF.

This correlates to my earlier comments in previous threads about the most dangerous animal in the woods being human.

Ain't that the truth.

Sadly some folks have and always will put fame and hoped for fortune above ALL ELSE. For such folks there really is no limit to how low they will stoop to gain that fame or fortune.

There are a few fields of study that totally defy logic and for which no proof of real existence has ever been found. Bigfoot is one of them and space aliens and ghosts/spirits/demons/call them what you wish is another. Even tho people have been reporting sightings of all since almost the dawn of time no solid evidence of the real existence of either has been brought forward that the scienitific community can exam and say yup that's valid proof.

Those who place total confidence in the existence of either of them will do about anything to be the first to offer up such proof. It has I believe caused some of them to go bonkers and they are borderline insane over the matter.

And, on a somewhat less pathetic note...BM is still trying to pass off the "BF Crossing Creek" (see Where's Waldo thread) pic on the aforementioned site as both his photo and the authenticity thereof.  ::)

The insanity among that bunch is epidemic.

This correlates to my earlier comments in previous threads about the most dangerous animal in the woods being human.

BTW, as it now really doesn't have to be kept on the QT anymore this apparently correlates to the two heavily used travel routes we discovered (before the recent flood) on the adjacent property heading into BM's place.  If "they" repeat the same scenario on their next hunt it will certainly make it easy for us to set up on a intercept path situation.
